Article 1 (Purpose of Processing Personal Information)

The 21st Century Military Research Institute (hereinafter referred to as the 'Institute') processes personal information for the following purposes. The personal information being processed will not be used for purposes other than the following, and if the purpose of use changes, necessary measures such as obtaining separate consent in accordance with Article 18 of the 「Personal Information Protection Act」 will be implemented.

  • 1. Homepage Membership Registration and Management: Personal information is processed for the purpose of confirming the intention to join the membership, identifying and authenticating the individual according to the provision of membership services, maintaining and managing membership qualification, preventing illegal use of services, and various notices and notifications.
  • 2. Use of Bulletin Boards and Provision of Services: Personal information is processed for the purpose of writing posts, providing comment services, and delivering news from the Institute.

Article 2 (Processing and Retention Period of Personal Information)

The Institute processes and retains personal information within the personal information retention and use period in accordance with laws or the personal information retention and use period agreed upon when collecting personal information from the data subject. The processing and retention period for each personal information is as follows:

  • Homepage membership registration and management: Until withdrawal from the website
  • However, in the following cases, until the end of the relevant reason:
    • In the case of an investigation or enquiry due to a violation of relevant laws, until the end of the relevant investigation or enquiry
    • In case of remaining bond/debt relations due to the use of the website, until the settlement of the relevant bond/debt relations

Article 3 (Items of Personal Information Processed)

The Institute processes the following personal information items:

  • Required items: ID, password, email address, name (first name, last name), phone number, education, career
  • Optional items: Major research/business performance, resume file (information included in the resume: name (Korean, Hanja, English), date of birth, gender, address, phone number (landline/mobile), email, education, career, major research/business performance)
  • Automatically collected items: IP address, cookies, service use records, visit records, etc.

Article 4 (Procedure and Method of Destruction of Personal Information)

The Institute destroys personal information without delay when personal information becomes unnecessary, such as the expiration of the personal information retention period or the achievement of the processing purpose. The destruction method is as follows:

  • Information in the form of electronic files is deleted using technical methods that cannot reproduce the record.

Article 5 (Rights and Obligations of Data Subjects and Legal Representatives and Method of Exercise)

Data subjects may exercise their rights such as requesting access, correction, deletion, and suspension of processing of personal information from the Institute at any time. Rights can be exercised in writing, by email, etc., to the Institute, and the Institute will take action without delay.

Article 6 (Measures to Ensure the Safety of Personal Information)

The Institute takes the following measures to ensure the safety of personal information:

  • Administrative measures: Establishment and implementation of internal management plans, regular employee training, etc.
  • Technical measures: Management of access rights to personal information processing systems, etc., storage of access records, encryption of passwords, installation of security programs, etc.
  • Physical measures: Access control to the database storage room, etc.

Article 7 (Personal Information Protection Officer)

The Institute is responsible for overall tasks related to personal information processing and designates a personal information protection officer as follows to handle complaints and remedy damages of data subjects related to personal information processing.

Article 8 (Changes to the Privacy Policy)

This Privacy Policy shall take effect from February 13, 2026.
